The
AIRE'N TERRE story starts in Recife, by 1992, when Wandeclayt M. and Aze
Von Helder (both studying Electronics) first met in the corridors of
Federal Technical School. They were already into EBM, Technopop and Goth
at that time and had many things in common like the interest for
astronomy, technology and new challenges — to say nothing of similar
stories to explain their catapulting into such musical styles.
Five years later, then with more than simply tastes in common Wandeclayt and Aze gathered to
form the group.
As a preliminary test, they decided to make a couple of covers and the
chosen songs were "Never Let Me Down Again" and "Behind The Wheel"
(both among their favorite Depeche Mode songs). Despite the poor equipment they
used, the result was considered great and that motivated them to move on and write their
first demos: "Roses Around" and
"Chain Reaktion".
Later on, due to their primary
careers obligations and individual geographic position (von Helder was
living in New York and M in Santa Maria, southeast Brazil). The duo developed a special structure
to support
the project's existence. That structure was named Chain Re-aktion Virtual
Studios and it's based on an arsenal of programs, hardware and
interchanging protocols. Under the CRVS work system M and Von Helder can
unleash their creativity regardless the distance that separates them.
Although they form the
A·N·T basis, Wandeclayt and Aze sometimes count on
ideas and support of guests to make the group's work and approach more
interesting. Both — besides writing, composing and playing — define the
group's audio-visual concept, planning and creating the image they project
to their public. "Noise turning
into melody, hits turning into music" describes the group's approach
and style:
dark, danceable and melodic EBM, filled in with experimentalism and
independence spirit.
